I'm making a really small (50 x 50) 2 player map, because, well... because I want to. It's got a dried up river through the middle, with two bridges crossing it. I had started to put a train in it, but that ran into problems, so it's just sitting in the southern settlement. I'm thinking of nixing it altogether. It's going to have a few triggers (reveal map, maybe a moving car if I can get it to work). I wasn't initially planning on it, but it is turning symmetrical....

well it's not looking horrible. I like how the dried up river bed is full of sand like that. (I assume that's where the river used to be)
One suggestion would be to make the slopes that fall from the cliff tops a little less quickly ending if you know what I mean. So like right now they just kinda come off the cliff a few cells and just go straight down. Maybe making some areas like that but others come out more cells on each height there. Though perhaps you were kinda trying to suggest that the towns had built that up like a levee to help with flooding from the river that used to be there.

As for the train...if it was trigger problems you were having then I suggest looking at Team Blacks' Siege City map for help on that as he uses trains very well on that map, or perhaps my Leviasc River map (i think that's the one with the train) as it also has a train. However, one problem I see with your train just looking at the pics is the same problem I had with Leviasc River's train is that the turns are too sharp. When you change directions (one 45 degree turn) you need to have at least 3 cells of track before changing direction again. (So instead of having to 45 degree turns right next to each other they'd be spaced a bit.) If you don't do that then the train parts like to run into each other and blow up. I know it's nice to have the train travel down the center of a road but it just doesn't work too well in the long run.
Another problem might be that you have the train running too close to the red edge of the map. I believe you need to have it at least 4-5 cells area from the red line in finalsun otherwise it just disappears and stops once it hits near that point if it even starts to begin with. I've had that problem before too with another map.

Anyways keep working. I want to see the release of this small map.

imo perhaps you could use some of the cracked tiles or small patches to water to help make it look like it has been a river rather than just Sand.

@ Ixith, I'm just gonna get rid of the damn thing tongue.gif

And yes, the sand is the dried up riverbed.

@ Revolutionary, the problem with the rough ground and water is that it looks kinda funny with the sand stopping just short of it. I think just sand is enough.

Instead of the cliffs next to the dried up river, put a slope going up untill it is even with the ground, then make it go up 1 more so it is higher than the ground, then

I can't really describe it, so I made pics of ideas:
(waypoints are idea locations)

Idea 1: What I was trying to explain, make the slope "1 cell higher"(could be man made that prevented the river from flooding) than the top of the clif, then put sandbags on it.

Idea 2: Make the "1 cell higher"(man made ridge) ground 1 cell back so you can but 3 sandbags in a "L" shape around the bridge.
Attached Image

Idea 3: Same as Idea 2 but you have sandbags all along the edge and on top the man made ridge.
Attached Image

Idea 4: Your original idea, just cliffs

The whole thing together:

Edit: Don't get rid of the trains, its easy to make them move, I learned by looking at the trains in the FS Cityscape, and made a map with 2 of them working. (Shoot now I gave away my surprise!!! Might as well tell you) I'm making a multiplayer map with 2 trains and it is gonna be awesome.

yah I learned my trains from looking at Cityscape. This map is far from the best, but I've definitely seen worse!
