At 1000 posts you get the rank of Forum Veteran and you will have to option to choose your own rank (as in, type it in)

I'm not sure if the name changer works, why don't you test it

Just did, and yes it does work. The fact that you can only change it twice everey so often is a good idea too, as it will stop too much messing around with it.

I also like the custom rank idea, as Xenus said, it adds greater diversity. And can make you look cooler.

neither am I, but its sort of a pride thing. When i said I would reach it relitively quickly, i meant that i would be very active, not that i would try to durther my post count for the sole objective of a custom rank.

I don't really like that idea to much myself, I mean some people don't really have the skill to map or mod. Some people have simply joined this forum to talk about the games, me being one of them.

Custom Ranks at 1000, I love the sound of that. But I'm going to make it a point to take as long as I can to get there, that way I can feel that I earned it...

I TumSun i had account for nearly a year and oly got 950 and something... Lol.

And the ranks sound really good , better than at TumSun.

i like having a lot of ranks. Its boring if there are gaps of a few hundred post between ranks, because then most people are the same rank, and thats no fun.

I agree with D2K. You should earn the right to a custom rank, or we will end up with (not mentioning any names here) people simply spamming for the rank.

Ranks are cool, but they're often the cause of worthless spamming. And higher ranks don't necessarily mean better/more important/nicer people, and they don't make you cooler (they look cool, but that's it). Costum ranks do show the importance of a person, so I personally don't think it's a good idea to give someone a costum rank when he get an x amount of posts. Only give them to people who deserve them. But that's my opinion, and I'm only saying it because I can't get high post counts (I got around 80 in 2.5 years) , and if I can't get a costum rank that way nobody else should!!! (J/K)

well u need to earn it in some way yes, but if u have like a few 1000 posts, i think you "earn" one, but indeed spam comes to mind here.
so even tho u can get a custom rank by posting, i think it schould be a verry high number.

I agree people shouldn't get a custom rank by spamming their way up to 2000 posts. I think it would be a good idea that when someone reaches 2000 posts, his posts are reviewed; if they're constructive he gets a custom rank, if they're not... His post count is cut in half (without having his posts removed) and he can try again...

A custom rank is generally a sign that you have contributed a lot to the forum, either by being an admin/mod for a long-ish time, or more like wes, with his 1337 mapping skills. Therefore custom rank people are supposed to set an example to newbs. Spamming your way to 2k posts in a year is easily possible, but do you really want to encourage more spam?

I think those costum ranks should be handed out to people who who do or did something. This can be modding, making good tutorials, finding out new things in moddings, etc. But also just people who are active, have a high post counts, but never spam, and always try to help other people. So not to everyone, who has over 2000 posts, but only some. In this way, you won't reward the spamming, but the efford in reaching 2000 without spamming. That's just my opinion about this, feel free to flame me about it .
