...finish my WIP-map I was working on two years ago? For those who don't know me, or forgot me (understandable after two years of absence): Hiya! I am Aurora196 and I used to map for TS (and RA2). Today I was randomly looking at some of my old maps in Finalsun and I saw my old WIP map. About two years ago I really wanted to finish it, but after a while I lost interest, I got a new pc, some new games, a ps3 and so on. I slowly dissappeared from the TS community after I had already decided I wouldn't be mapping anymore. But still, I wanted to finish THIS map because I really liked it, and it was one of my bigger projects. So, long story short: I am right now thinking whether I should finish it, which will still cost a lot of time and work, or release it as a partially finished map, which would be kind of lame. So I asking you if you would still want it to be finished. On the one side: I don't know how active the TS community is and if there are still people who want to see a new map from me (could be for a mod I don't really care) and I would have to invest some time in it (also I haven't mapped for almost two years). On the other hand: I haven't really said goodbye to the community and I haven't really announced that I have stopped mapping, so this could be a formal goodbye with a last map, plus the fact that I have put a lot of effort in the map as it is now (would be a waste otherwise). So you can decide: 1. I should finish the map (don't expect it to be filled with triggers and properly tested gameplay-wise, I would probably only visually finish it). 2. I should release the map as it is now, unfinished (which might prevent me from wasting a lot of time). Also here's some screens I already posted a long while ago:

Great map! It looks great, but you I think you should finish this. But yeah this place isn't so active anymore. And it looks like a counterpart to "FS Tiberium Wilderness" But overall the map is what was once a nice land, but tiberium came everywhere. My rating so far... | Cliffs=8/10 (good placing and use) Buildings & Units=9/10 (all twisted up and damaged buildings) Resources=8/10 (Used quite a good amount I can tell) Other Terrain=8/10 (I like the crystals and mold) Overall=8/10 But anyways so far Good luck. It's a possible spotlight in my eyes.

Wow, ok, I'll finish it since you want that . QUOTE (Devestator @ Apr 4 2010, 12:53 AM) Great map! It looks great, but you I think you should finish this.
But yeah this place isn't so active anymore. And it looks like a counterpart to "FS Tiberium Wilderness" Yeah that's mainly because of the lighting, it's the same as that map. Also I just like making infested maps, they're my favorite. QUOTE (OmegaBolt @ Apr 4 2010, 02:34 AM) I like the roads/city remainders on top of cliffs, as if there was an extreme earthquake that turned the place inside out. Maybe large underground Tiberium deposits shifting. Thanks, I'm glad you see that. Last time I showed these screens I was told it was weird to see buildings/vehicles/roads on top of cliffs, but I'm glad you understand that I was indeed trying to make it seem like there were earthquakes and that the tiberium deformed the terrain. QUOTE (Devestator @ Apr 4 2010, 11:11 PM) Another thing, the lighting fits the mood. Yes, as I said, it's (I think even exactly) the same as on my Tiberium Wilderness map, however the lighting most definitely won't stay this way. I used that lighting because I quickly wanted to show some ingame screens, but I didn't feel like experimenting with new lighting, so I just copied lighting from that map. QUOTE (Team Black @ Apr 5 2010, 12:19 AM) Good to see you again Aurora! I've always liked your maps, I'd really like to see you finish this one.
Make it special, add some triggers and stuff. MAKE ME PROUD! Thank you, but I'm not sure about the triggers. Like I said, it might be a lot of work and I'm still lazy. Besided, I never really was that creative with triggers. It mostly were basic vehicle-triggers, or some standard meteor showers or maybe some capture-building triggers. I might add some other things, like the ability to build mammoth tanks (when you captured a specific building) and maybe a new colour of tiberium (or a slightly adjusted green and/or blue tiberium colour). QUOTE (BloodReign @ Apr 5 2010, 06:22 AM) FINISH THE DAMN TING! LOL not only have you abandoned mapping but I never see you on msn anymore Well, that's also pure lazyness. I still am always on msn (when my pc is on, my msn is too), however most of the time I am on 'appear-offline'-mode, because I'm too lazy to switch it on and off when I have to leave my pc. However, I'll try to be fully online more from now on .

For people that are interested; I MIGHT (with emphasis on MIGHT) be doing more than just finishing this map. What else I'm planning is a secret... Well, ok it's not; I'm also planning to redo some of my older maps and I might finish up some other maps I have discovered that I hadn't finished.
I won't be doing ALL my older maps, but the ones that are either small and take a little while to redo (like 'Frozen Hell, of which I'm actually disgusted by the lighting I used; WHAT was I THINKING!) or the ones that I think had real potential, but I somehow managed to fail making them truly great (like 'FS Tiberium Lake' of OMC3, which had a fine cliff structure, but otherwise was extremely boring). The latter map is just one of my problems, that my 'mapping contest'-maps were never that great (I guess it was the pressure), which I still regret.
So basically the following maps are candidates (not TV-show-'Lost'-candidates) and YOU can tell ME which ones YOU want to undergo a MAKEOVER (I'm a bit addicted to caps at the MOMENT):
Frozen Hell [2] (on top of my list, due to size and awful lighting) A Rivers' Journey [2-3] (not so sure since it's quite old and has a weird lay-out, on the other hand it's my second map and redoing it might be really nostalgic=fun) FS Tiberium Atmosphere [2-6] (want to do this, because lay-out and detailing is already decent and lighting is awful, AGAIN) FS Tiberium Lake [2-8] (map has great potential, but might be too big to redo) Tiberium Night [2] (small, so easy to redo, however the map isn't that bad compared to the above, though I could to much better)
And about the unfinished maps, they were originally meant for a mod, but I stopped working on it and the maps were basically abandoned. One if them is a MP-map and it's VERY small (really tiny) and the other ones are SP-maps, which I'm less likely to finish or I might try to turn them into MP-maps. I was also working on a 'Tiberium Wars'-map, however that probably won't ever be finished...
Anyhow, I'm tired and this was a lot to type...

So yeah you got SP and MP maps. You could post those up here. I'm sure you'll get replies. Tiberium Night? Is it the same one with the veinhole in the middle? Because I downloaded a Tiberium Night at PPM back when I visited there.

Hello all, As you can see, I'm bumping this topic with some good news. First let me apologize for the fact that over a year ago I made a promise about finishing this map, which I did not keep. It's something I am not really proud of. At that time I was partly motivated to finish this map, but shortly after creating this topic I lost interest in mapping again. However, I still felt guilty about not finishing the map. So recently, after my brother started playing Tiberian Sun again and after seeing some of my older maps (including this one), I decided that I HAD to finish this map no matter what. So there you go, this map WILL be released, probably within the next two or three weeks. I also mentioned remaking my older maps, but that's most definitely not going to happen. To show I've been working on the map, here's the current minimap.

Just a small update: The map structure and terrain is basically done. I'm almost done detailing the map itself. I would say about 10% of the map still needs to be filled with trees, rocks and other objects, which isn't much work at all. Three things I also need to spend some time on: lighting, triggers/coding and final tweaking. Most time will be lost on lighting; placing and tweaking invisible light posts is a time-consuming business on a map like this, with lots of tiberium. Triggers and coding will require less time, as I haven't got any plans for complex triggers. There will be several 'tech buildings' (Civilian arrays, hospitals, armories and possible old gdi/nod structures) which still require some coding and triggering, but I don't think that will be much trouble. The final tweaking will require more time. I will have to check the entire map on inconsistent ground detailing. You have to understand that I started working on this map about 4 years ago, even before I released my last map (In the Line of Fire V2), which was in December 2007. There have been long periods of inactivity ever since, so the way I use LAT-tiles has changed significantly during the progress of this map. And now for no particular reason a screenshot of a slightly less infected area of the map. Lighting is still WIP and blue lighting is insanely hard to recreate on a temperate map.
