Of course it is. But being a geek isn't a bad thing, it just (generally) means you actually have an active interest in the world around you that isn't something projected by the media as cool.

lol, it depends on what you do outside that defines it. I street race and am In the US army. I'm in high school i'm in with what people call "the popular" crowd. I also happen to go through girls like paper (not in a whore-ish way, I still care for them all. I just lose interest)... and I'm a gamer. They all know it. geek, maybe. dork, yes. loved by all, most definitely. You can still be a geek and be cool as hell.

QUOTE (daTSchikinhed @ Feb 7 2008, 10:05 PM) it depends on what you do outside that defines it. Yea, its really just a matter of what you do when your not gaming. To me, whether you play five minutes a day or five hours a day, your a geek Some are less of ones, some are super geeks, but if you play video games you are one to some degree. Sorry, that's just how the ball bounces Don't misunderstand me where I think anyone who games is some obese kid, sitting in his parent's basement, gnawing on cheetos, with telescope glasses and only ever leaves the house for Star Trek conventions. Obviously I'm a gamer and I don't fit that description by a long shot (I don't think anyone on this forum does really )

Straight out of wikipedia: QUOTE The word geek is a slang term, noting individuals as "a peculiar or otherwise odd person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual". So no, Command & Conquer is not for geeks only.

I don't think C&C is for geeks, I play it because i like the game. I know some people who play RA2 and they are not geeks.. (they don't even know how to mod!) It's modding the game that makes you a geek imo. QUOTE (Team Black) Though it does feel awkward when people ask about my hobbies, when I try to explain to them what modding is, and what Command & conquer is, Lol, that happens to me a lot around here. Especially at school.

QUOTE (jadems @ Feb 7 2008, 11:46 PM) Heck no! And why does the poll have checkboxes instead or radio boxes? My first topic with a poll. I too find it hard to explain why I like the game. If you could just show it to someone, I'm quite sure they would understand. Yeah, it is true that the nerdiest and just, geeky people, become good leaders. One rare exception is General H. R. McMaster. Good man, led the attack on Fallujah. If I remember correctly, some over 2,000 insurgents were killed, none spared, while under 20 U.S. soldiers died. That's how good he was. Me, I try to do that in CnC games, but that doesn't make me a geek, it means I'm a strategist, because it takes alot of skill to do something like that. BTW: My Dad was a friend of H. R. McMaster in Germany. They were both in the Big Red One, and McMaster was only a Commander back then. EDIT: Even 20 U.S. deaths is too much, but 2,000 for only less than 20? If people would just start to understand and listen to others, this wouldn't happen, right?
